rosen bodywork with somatic experiencing

be held and discover yourself

The Rosen Method, informed by Somatic Experiencing, combines gentle touch, attuned words, and deep listening to make a space of safety in which you can experience yourself in ways you never have before.

This work is helpful if you feel stuck, and wish to shed old patterns and habits.  It supports you if you have a history of trauma and wish to live more fully in your body with ease and enhanced vitality. It speaks to those who long to experience healthy touch and safe boundaries.

Over time, ongoing sessions can help you to break free of limiting patterns, and support a grounded sense of self awareness and self confidence.  It helps to support increased honesty and joy in relationships with yourself and others, and physically it often leads to less pain and more flexibility.  Ongoing clients often discover the courage to face fears and the skill to make more fulfilling choices in life, career and love.

By contacting places of muscle tension and restricted breathing in the client's body, with hands that listen rather than manipulate, the practitioner invites unconscious emotions and memories to emerge.  This process leads to the release of old patterns and habitual tension, freeing the client to experience more aliveness, new choices in life, and a greater sense of well-being

It is a powerful means of self-discovery for people seeking insight into their patterns of emotional and physical holding, so that they feel empowered to reclaim their physical, spiritual and emotional health.

The Rosen Method with Somatic Experiencing invites you to lean into what scares you, what was once overwhelming and that you did not have the capacity to navigate, but now within a safe and strong container. This journey unravels the tight hold of old survival mechanisms, and allows you to build a new sense of self that is grounded in an embodied sense of the present moment.

  • "Radical presence and attention. I feel grounded in my body but it's also a little like hypnosis, in that things come out of my mouth that I know are true, but which I didn't expect to say. I feel completely supported and respected. I don't feel like I need to hide myself."

  • "Julia worked slowly and gently to gain my trust. It took many sessions before I could even recognize what I was feeling or what I needed or wanted. But, over time, I’ve learned that it is safe to honor my feelings and share them with Julia. Her gentle support and ability to lean into and affirm what I’m feeling is very helpful."

  • "The experience was pretty foreign at first and I was deeply uncertain about the whole process. Julia is the essence of patient, present, caring. She comes off strong in support of her patients and herself. It was life changing and I recommend her to everyone who can get to her beautiful retreat space!"

  • "Julia is all about love, taking you in and accepting however and whoever you are. Her presence, touch, and words come from her heart, and allows me to feel seen, heard, and understood. She skillfully makes the space for me to open to myself and go to deep places within me that have been hidden or unexpressed. When that happens, I feel an inner calm and confidence that “all is well” despite sometimes difficult circumstances and emotions."

  • "I have learned so many things from Julia and on her table. I gained hope in the face of trauma and had a spiritual experience others have experienced elsewhere but I have only experienced once, during a session."

  • "Rosen sessions with Julia always leave me feeling safe and secure with my feelings, my body, and myself in the context of both my personal life and in the world as it is."

  • "This work has affected my life greatly. I have always been interested in somatic healing...but being interested and having a skilled facilitator to "get you there" are 2 different things. I don't think I would have been able to connect so deeply with myself and my body without the guidance of Julia."

  • "Rosen sessions with Julia always leave me feeling safe and secure with my feelings, my body, and myself in the context of both my personal life and in the world as it is."

  • "Rosen work with Julia helps me in a way that I cannot do for myself. Wellness needs community --another person who understands that mind and body are inseparable, and who acknowledges the role of emotions in wellness."

  • "Fortunately, I’ve had a wonderful, traditional talk therapist for most of my adult life, and I couldn’t have managed without her. But when I began working with Julia, I found I could express and release very painful emotions because I was safely held, both emotionally and physically. And that has made a tremendous difference."

  • "I’m incredibly grateful that such a skilled, kind, empathic practitioner is here in Northeastern PA. I’ve grown in so many ways by working with her."

  • "Working with Julia has been an amazing gift. I never dreamed an additional therapist could have such an outsized impact on my life. It’s not always easy - in fact it’s often very hard to share what I’m feeling. But it’s worth every minute. The investment I’ve made in this work pays for itself many times over in the quality of my life. If you are curious, try it!"

  • "I loved receiving sessions in Julia's large tent (with windows) in the woods, being among trees, and feeling and smelling the summer and fall air. Indoors in colder weather, it is cozy, clean, and welcoming."

  • "I kind of thought Rosen would be like a massage. While there is helpful and healing touch, it is more about letting memories surface from the body that remembers what I do not consciously (due to extensive childhood trauma) and finding new possibility in my body."

  • "Positively and powerfully transformed my life, empowered and consistently supported me in rebuilding my life. Yes, I’m thriving."
